Strong together, united forever, they're the best of friends...

So I saw Watchmen this weekend. I was mildly disappointed in a number of things.

First, I'd like to cover the bits I really liked. The opening credits montage was amazing. I love alternahistory. Jackie Earle Haley made a fantastic Rorschach. Most of all, I could tell that this was a labor of love for Zac Snyder. I guess my vision just differs from his. The soundtrack contributed little to the movie at best, and was downright distracting at worst (Simon and Garfunkel at Blake's funeral comes to mind. But my biggest problems were with characters. I hated the actress who played Silk Spectre II, and I thought she and Nite Owl II had very little chemistry, despite the hotness of the sex scene. Lastly, and this is somewhat minor/personal, but Adrian Veidt is supposed to be in all ways the Uebermensch: not just intellectually superior to mere mortals, but physically and aesthetically as well. He's supposed to look like a Teutonic godling. So why then, I ask, does he look like a more photogenic/cinema-friendly version of a certain friend of mine with similar ambitions of world domination? That one similarity aside, there is little resemblance, given that this friend's personality is more akin to that of the Comedian or Rorschach than that of Ozymandias. On a brighter note, Apollonia Vanova. Need I say more?

tl;dr--The Watchmen movie was good, though a few things bothered me, mainly because I made a point of re-reading the novel before seeing the movie and because I felt certain actors were poor choices for their roles.
